Day 1: Arrival in Bodø
Arrival in Bodø according to individual travel plans. Car rental pickup is recommended at Bodø Airport. Norway’s second-largest city in the north is surrounded by peaks, sea, and aviation history. A visit to the Norwegian Aviation Museum is recommended. Accommodation in a centrally located 3-star hotel in Bodø.
Day 2: Bodø – Ørnes
Breakfast at the hotel. Begin your journey along the Helgeland coast. Stop at Saltstraumen, the world’s strongest maelstrom, before continuing to Svartisen – Norway’s second-largest glacier. Optional boat and hike excursions can bring you closer to the ice (not included). Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Ørnes.
Day 3: Ørnes – Sandnessjøen
Breakfast at the hotel. Continue south along one of Norway’s most scenic coastal drives. Cross the Arctic Circle by ferry and spot the marker in the sea. Today’s route includes three ferry crossings: Forøy–Ågskardet, Jektvik–Kilboghamn, and Nesna–Levang (not included). Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Sandnessjøen.
Day 4: Sandnessjøen – Explore the Helgeland Coast
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is free to explore the area. Popular highlights include hiking the Seven Sisters mountains, visiting the Petter Dass Museum and Alstahaug Church, or stepping back in time at the reconstructed Viking longhouse at Sandnes. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Sandnessjøen.
Day 5: Sandnessjøen – Brønnøysund
Breakfast at the hotel. Continue your scenic drive south, with ferry crossings from Tjøtta to Forvik and Anddalsvåg to Horn (not included). Arrive in Brønnøysund, the coastal town in the heart of Norway. A visit to the iconic Torghatten mountain, with its natural hole, is highly recommended. Also worth visiting is Hildurs Urterarium – a garden filled with herbs, flowers, and local charm. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Brønnøysund.
Day 6: Day Trip to Vega
Breakfast at the hotel. Take the express boat (not included) to Vega, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its close relationship with the eider duck. Explore the island’s villages, birdlife, and the Vega World Heritage Centre. In the afternoon, return to Brønnøysund. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Brønnøysund.
Day 7: Brønnøysund – Mo i Rana via Mosjøen
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive inland towards Mo i Rana. En route, stop in Mosjøen – a town rich in music and heritage. A stroll through the historic 19th-century street of Sjøgata is highly recommended. Continue to Mo i Rana for an overnight stay. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Mo i Rana.
Day 8: Mo i Rana – Arctic Circle – Bodø
Breakfast at the hotel. Cross the Saltfjellet–Svartisen National Park and pass the Arctic Circle for a second time. A stop at the Arctic Circle Centre is recommended for a photo, souvenir, and a uniquely postmarked postcard. Continue to Bodø for your final night. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Bodø.
Day 9: Departure from Bodø
Breakfast at the hotel. Return the rental car at Bodø Airport and depart according to individual travel plans.
