Day 1: Arrival in Keflavík – Reykjavík
Upon arrival in Keflavík, meet your guide and driver who will accompany you throughout the journey. Drive across the Reykjanes Peninsula to your hotel in Reykjavík. Time permitting, a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon can be included (at extra cost). Optional three-hour sightseeing tour available, including Höfði House, the Old Town district and Hallgrímskirkja. Accommodation in Reykjavík.
Day 2: Golden Circle – Borgarnes
Start the day with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO site and home of Iceland’s first parliament. See where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. Continue to the geothermal area of Geysir, where Strokkur erupts every few minutes. End the day at Gullfoss, the spectacular “Golden Waterfall.” Drive to Borgarnes for overnight. Accommodation in Borgarnes.
Day 3: Borgarnes – Akureyri Region
Today begins with a suggested visit to Reykholt, home of the poet Snorri Sturluson. Continue to Grábrók, a volcanic crater with panoramic views, and Glaumbær museum (optional entrance), showcasing Icelandic turf houses. Drive through Skagafjörður, known for its Icelandic horse farms. Arrive in Akureyri for a city tour before heading to Húsavík or overnighting in Akureyri. Accommodation in Húsavík or Akureyri.
Day 4: Húsavík & Northern Wonders
Explore Húsavík, Iceland’s whale watching capital (optional whale safari available). Drive around the Tjörnes Peninsula to Jökulsárgljúfur National Park to see Dettifoss – Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Visit Ásbyrgi, a horseshoe-shaped canyon, before returning. Accommodation in Húsavík or Akureyri.
Day 5: Mývatn – Egilsstaðir
Depart for the Mývatn region, rich in birdlife and volcanic landscapes. Discover lava fields, hot springs, and mud pools. Continue through scenic mountain passes and fjords toward the East Fjords. Suggested stop at Petra’s Stone Collection (not included), a fascinating local mineral museum. Accommodation in Egilsstaðir.
Day 6: East Fjords – Höfn
Travel south to Vatnajökull National Park and Skaftafell, nestled beneath Europe’s largest glacier. Explore waterfalls and hiking trails in untouched nature. Optional amphibian boat ride available on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon to see floating icebergs up close (at extra charge). Accommodation in Höfn.
Day 7: Höfn – Vik – Hveragerði
Follow the Ring Road along the south coast with views of Vatnajökull glacier. Arrive in Vik, Iceland’s southernmost village, and visit black sand beaches and Dyrhólaey. Continue to the majestic waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss, the latter of which you can walk behind. Accommodation in Hveragerði.
Day 8: Departure from Keflavík
Transfer to Keflavík Airport for your return flight, filled with unforgettable memories from your Icelandic adventure.
