Clients can join a small group tour (max 19 persons) for a more personal experience. They will be picked up in Tromsø and driven by minibus on a chase for the magical Northern Lights. With expert local knowledge, the guide will find the best spots for both the lights and scenic photography. To ensure clear skies, the guide may drive as far as needed, even to inner Troms. Throughout the evening, clients will learn about the Northern Lights, including the science and folklore behind them. The guide will also assist with camera settings for Northern Lights photography and take pictures of clients with the lights, available for download in original size from our Flickr account.

Reindeer Sledding at Camp Tamok
Clients can experience reindeer sledding, the oldest form of transport in the north and an important part of Sami culture. The trip is suitable for all ages and includes driving in pairs, with one sled for each reindeer. This cultural adventure also offers the opportunity to try lasso-throwing, the traditional Sami method of catching reindeer during marking or slaughter. Clients will learn about Sami culture and history, and the excursion concludes with a hot meal. Morning trips offer stunning views of the wild mountains, while evening trips from November to March provide a great chance to see the Northern Lights.

Using a hybrid engine, the trip to the whale feeding grounds at Skjervøy takes less than 3 hours, ensuring ample daylight for the journey. Clients can relax in the comfortable salons, enjoying fresh pastries and coffee while taking in the spectacular Arctic morning light, passing snow-covered landscapes, the Lyngen Alps, islands, fjords, and fishing villages. There is a good chance of spotting white-tailed eagles and porpoises along the way. A professional guide will provide an in-depth lecture on marine life. As the boat nears the whales, the silent electric engine allows clients to get close without disturbing them. The underwater drone and hydrophone will capture the whales’ communication as they hunt herring in the deep fjords. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, the crew will do their best to find them. Clients will experience the best of both huskies and outdoor life, as these energetic dogs make for the perfect companions in nature. During the visit, clients will also have the chance to meet the puppies and the star athletes in the dog yard.

Fjellheisen Cable Car
The Tromsø Cable Car, built in 1961 by the local shipping company Brødrene Jakobsen Rederi, has a rich history in Arctic hunting, fishing, and expeditions. The gondolas carry the company’s symbols, the polar bear and seal. The cable car runs from Solliveien in Tromsdalen to the mountain ledge Storsteinen. The lower station is at 50 m above sea level, and the upper station, Fjellstua, sits at 421 m. The ride takes just four minutes. Tromsø’s most popular tourist destination, it offers stunning panoramic views from the large outdoor terrace, with vistas of islands, fjords, mountains, and the open sea. The majestic Tromsdalstinden mountain, rising 1,238 m above sea level, can be seen in the other direction. In summer, the deck provides great views of the Midnight Sun, while in winter, it’s an ideal spot for viewing the Northern Lights.

Guided Snowshoeing on Tromsø Island
Clients can join a short snowshoeing trip through easy terrain, perfect for those with little experience or who have never tried snowshoeing, as well as families with children aged 8 and older. After a brief 10-minute drive to the top of Tromsø island, the guide will teach clients how to use snowshoes before starting a walk through flat and slightly hilly terrain in the forest. Along the way, there will be stops for photos and information about the city and Arctic environment. The area offers scenic views of birch and spruce forests and surrounding island landscapes. A longer break will be made to enjoy lefse (a local snack) and a hot drink. Due to the rapidly changing weather in Northern Norway, warm, windproof clothes and winter boots (above the ankle) are required. Winter clothes and boots can be rented separately with prior arrangement. From mid-February, the sun can be strong due to snow reflection, so sunglasses and sun cream are recommended.

The trail covers a total distance of 30 km, with the starting point at 250 m above sea level, reaching a peak of 875 m. Clients will ride in pairs, with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile, and the opportunity to switch places during the trip. Due to the dramatic terrain, the speed is reduced at certain points. The highest point of the trail is a frozen lake, where clients can speed up. If weather and time allow, there will be a chance to try ice fishing. The trip concludes with a hot meal served in a lavvu (Sami tent).

Private Walking Tour of Tromsø
A private guide will pick clients up at their hotel for a 2-hour walking tour of Tromsø’s city center. They will stroll through the oldest parts of town, learning about the history of the "Paris of the North" (the origin of this name will be revealed during the tour). The tour includes a visit to the Polar Museum, where clients will discover the stories of Arctic explorers who often began their journeys in Tromsø.

Puppy Training at the Husky Home
Clients can join the most fun part of our work and help take our puppies out for training, a great activity for both adults and children. Training our huskies is key to preparing for dog sledding races, such as the Finnmarksløpet, Europe's longest race. After a 25-minute drive from Tromsø, clients will be greeted by our guides and given a tour of the dog yard, where they can meet and cuddle with our 300 huskies while learning about our life with the animals. Following the tour, clients will join an experienced handler for a 1-1.5 hour hike to help train puppies, aged 4 weeks to 7 months, in teamwork exercises. Afterward, a warm lunch of Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish, will be served in our authentic Gamme-Hut.

Visit Tromsø Icebar
Clients can visit Magic Ice, a captivating winter wonderland made from several tons of natural ice from Norway. This ice bar and art gallery showcase the work of world-renowned ice carvers. The exhibit allows clients to follow in the footsteps of early Arctic explorers like Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen, learning about their adventures and discoveries in the North Pole. Clients can also explore the expedition ship, crafted from crystal-clear ice. Warm winter ponchos and gloves are provided before entering the ice bar, where a welcome drink served in an ice glass is included with the entrance fee.

Dogsledding at Camp Tamok

Instructions will be provided on how to drive a dog team before clients set off on their own dog sled into the white landscapes, traveling through the beautiful Vass Valley, a side valley connected to Tamok Valley. Along the way, clients will pass Camp Tamok before heading deeper into the wild. The route covers a distance of 8 to 15 km, depending on weather and safety conditions. The uninhabited area offers stunning views of mountains and forests, with the dogs thriving in their natural environment. Clients will ride in pairs, with one driver and one passenger per sled, switching places halfway. After the adventure, clients will return to Camp Tamok for a hot meal served in a heated lavvu (Sami herders' tent).

Aurora Dinner Cruise

Clients can explore Tromsø's highlights on our popular and easy-to-ride electric bicycles. This fun and relaxing activity allows clients to experience the freedom of electric bikes while visiting many of the city’s must-see spots in just a few hours. Along the way, a passionate guide will share secrets about the vibrant city, take clients to off-the-beaten-track locations, and provide insight into the local way of life. The tour offers stunning scenery and a unique perspective on Tromsø’s beautiful Arctic environment. The trip is suitable for anyone who can ride a bike and has normal balance, with a recommended minimum height of 150 cm for comfort and control. Using a hybrid engine, the trip to the whale feeding grounds at Skjervøy takes less than 3 hours, ensuring ample daylight for the journey. Clients can relax in the comfortable salons, enjoying fresh pastries and coffee while taking in the spectacular Arctic morning light, passing snow-covered landscapes, the Lyngen Alps, islands, fjords, and fishing villages. There is a good chance of spotting white-tailed eagles and porpoises along the way. A professional guide will provide an in-depth lecture on marine life. As the boat nears the whales, the silent electric engine allows clients to get close without disturbing them. The underwater drone and hydrophone will capture the whales’ communication as they hunt herring in the deep fjords. While sightings cannot be guaranteed, the crew will do their best to find them. If the whales are far away, diesel engines may be used for the transfer, but the boat will cruise in silent electric mode once near the whales.
