FAQ

What is the best season to visit Iceland?

  • Winter (December to February): This is the prime season for soaking in geothermal hot springs like the Blue Lagoon, as the contrast between the cold air and the warm water creates a magical experience. It's also a great time for ice caving and glacier tours, which offer a unique look into Iceland’s dramatic ice formations. The Northern Lights are often visible on clear nights.

  • Spring (March to May): The landscape begins to thaw, revealing vibrant moss and emerging wildflowers. This is an excellent time for bird watching as migratory species return. It's less crowded, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy Iceland's natural beauty in solitude.

  • Summer (June to August): Enjoy nearly daylight under the Midnight Sun, which allows for extended days of hiking, sightseeing, and exploring Iceland’s unique volcanic landscapes. Puffin spotting along the cliffs and whale watching tours off the coast are particularly rewarding during these months.

  • Autumn (September to November): As the crowds thin, those visiting can enjoy the stunning display of autumn colours in peace. This season is also perfect for witnessing the beginning of the aurora borealis season. Hiking and horseback riding are particularly pleasant in autumn.
