FAQ

What is the best season to visit Norway?

  • Winter (December to February): Ideal for witnessing the Northern Lights, especially in the Arctic Circle. Norway offers an array of amazing winter experiences, such as dogsledding, snowmobiling and skiing. Visitors can also explore snow-covered landscapes on snowshoes.

  • Spring (March to May): This is a great time for fjord cruises as the waterfalls are swollen with meltwater, and the landscape is lush and vibrant. The longer days allow more time for sightseeing in cities and the countryside.

  • Summer (June to August): The best time to take advantage of the Midnight Sun, which provides 24 hours of daylight in northern parts of the country. Hiking, cycling, and fishing are popular as the weather is warmest. It’s also a great time for exploring Norway's many national parks and the stunning coastlines.

  • Autumn (September to November): A spectacular time for hiking as the mountains and forests turn golden and red. The weather is still mild enough to enjoy outdoor activities, and it's an excellent time for photography. The Northern Lights start to become visible again, especially late in the season.
