Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Iceland – Reykjavík
Upon arrival, meet your tour guide and bus driver. Your journey begins with a guided city tour of Reykjavík, including landmarks such as the Höfði House, the presidential residence at Bessastaðir, Hallgrímskirkja Church, the parliament, and the town hall. Accommodation in Reykjavík.
Day 2: Golden Circle – Borgarnes
Today, follow the iconic Golden Circle route. Visit Þingvellir National Park, where you can walk between the drifting continental plates. Continue to the powerful Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal area of Geysir, where Strokkur erupts regularly. Optional tasting of traditional Icelandic hot-spring baked bread with herring and eggs available. Overnight in Borgarnes.
Day 3: Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, dominated by the glacier-capped Snæfellsjökull volcano, famously featured in Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Descend into a lava cave at the glacier’s base and continue along the rugged coastline with its dramatic rock formations. See the famous Kirkjufell mountain, often used as a film location. Accommodation in the Snæfellsnes region.
Day 4: Breiðafjörður Bay – Látrabjarg Cliffs
Take the Baldur ferry across the scenic Breiðafjörður Bay, passing Flatey Island with its rich birdlife. Keep your eyes open for whales. Continue to the Westfjords, and arrive at Látrabjarg – Europe’s westernmost point and home to thousands of puffins. Accommodation in the Westfjords.
Day 5: Westfjords – Dynjandi – Þingeyri
Today, wind your way through the fjords, each turn offering new views and peaceful seascapes. Visit the majestic Dynjandi waterfall, a spectacular series of cascades. In Þingeyri, enjoy a freshly made waffle in a quaint village setting. Accommodation in the Westfjords.
Day 6: Hólmavík – Borgarfjörður
Travel along the eastern side of the Westfjords past the dramatic Valagil gorge. Stop in Hólmavík for a visit to the Museum of Icelandic Sorcery and Witchcraft. Continue to Borgarfjörður, where you’ll encounter the beautiful Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Accommodation in the rural Borgarfjörður region.
Day 7: Departure from Reykjavík
On your way back to Keflavík Airport, you may opt to hike to Iceland’s second-highest waterfall, Glymur, or explore the Reykjanes Peninsula’s volcanic craters. For a perfect end to your trip, take a relaxing dip in the Blue Lagoon (optional).
