Selina in the Faroe Islands

Join us as we follow Selina’s footsteps, immersing ourselves in the untamed beauty and rich cultural tapestry of this remarkable archipelago. Selina’s exploration of the Faroe Islands began in Bøur on the island of Vagar. She learned about the village's whaling history from locals who provided insights into their traditional lifestyle. A lunch of whale meat and dried sheep gave her a taste of the island's culinary customs. The highlight was a 6-kilometre hike to Slave Cliff, where she was struck by the views and the site's poignant Viking history. The next day, Selina visited the remote island of Skuvoy, home to just 60 inhabitants. Here, she was welcomed by Thomas and Elisabeth, who shared heartfelt stories about island life. A hike to the bird cliffs offered her a view of puffins soaring over the ocean, contrasting vividly with the vast blue.

Her journey continued in Kirkjubøur, where she walked from Torshavn across scenic landscapes with her guide, Jagvan. They explored ancient religious sites and discussed the Viking heritage of the islands. A visit to a farm run by the same family for 17 generations provided a living history lesson, complemented by a lunch at the OY brewery where she sampled Faroese beer and food. The cultural immersion peaked when Selina participated in the traditional Faroese chain dance at a local dinner. Taught by Jagvan, the dance steps connected her to the island's narratives and historical ties, highlighting the communal spirit of the Faroese people.
