A classic Norwegian winter experience awaits in the enchanting region of Alta. Known as the City of the Aurora, Alta is the largest town in Northern Norway, located deep within the Altafjord. Surrounded by Arctic tundra, mountain plateaus, and dramatic coastal landscapes, the area transforms into a true winter wonderland during the colder months.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Alta
Upon arrival at Alta Airport, a transfer to the hotel will be provided. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the town or relax. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Alta.
Day 2: Dog Sledding & Northern Lights Chase
After breakfast at the hotel, a transfer will take guests to a husky farm to enjoy a full-day dog sledding experience through the Arctic wilderness. In the evening, the next adventure begins: a Northern Lights chase by minibus, heading to remote areas away from light pollution to maximise the chances of observing the aurora. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Alta.
Day 3: Snowshoeing & Ice Fishing
Breakfast is served at the hotel. The day continues with a snowshoe hike to a frozen lake for an ice fishing experience. The trek leads through peaceful pine forests framed by high mountains. Upon arrival, a fire will be lit inside a traditional lavvu, where the group waits for Arctic Char to bite. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Alta.
Day 4: Snowmobiling
After breakfast, a snowmobile excursion takes place on the vast mountain plateau of Finnmarksvidda. This adventure offers both an adrenaline rush and the chance to witness the ever-changing Arctic light across a dramatic landscape. Accommodation in a centrally located hotel in Alta.
Day 5: Departure
Breakfast will be served at the hotel before a transfer to Alta Airport, scheduled in accordance with departure times.
