Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavík
Private transfer from Keflavík Airport to the hotel in central Reykjavík. Spend time settling in and exploring the capital. For ultimate relaxation after the flight, a visit to Sky Lagoon, a luxury oceanside geothermal spa, is highly recommended.
Day 2: Reykjavík
After breakfast, embark on a Reykjavík food tour, tasting at least 10 traditional Icelandic dishes while learning about the country’s culture and culinary heritage. The afternoon is free for independent exploration. In the evening, a super jeep Northern Lights tour ventures away from city lights for the best chance of witnessing the magical auroras, complete with a warm blanket and hot cocoa.
Day 3: Torfhus Retreat
Breakfast at the hotel before collecting a rental car (not included) and driving towards Torfhus Retreat, with stops along the Golden Circle route. Visit Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, and Geysir, Iceland’s famous geothermal hotspot. For extra adventure, an optional snowmobile tour on Langjökull Glacier can be arranged. Arrive at Torfhus Retreat in the afternoon and settle into a private turf-roofed house, a modern take on Viking dwellings. With zero light pollution, the retreat offers an incredible setting for Northern Lights viewing or stargazing from a geothermally heated basalt stone pool.
Day 4: Torfhus Retreat
Wake up to breakfast at the retreat and a day filled with opportunities to explore. The surrounding landscapes include the Highlands and the South Shore, with a variety of optional activities available, including helicopter sightseeing, glacier hiking, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. The retreat can arrange these unforgettable experiences to suit any preference.
Day 5: Torfhus Retreat
A leisurely day at the retreat to enjoy the peaceful Arctic surroundings. Take a walk through the nature trails, soak in a private heated pool, or simply unwind while admiring the dramatic landscapes. In the evening, if the skies are clear, there may be another opportunity to witness the Northern Lights.
Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, departure for Keflavík Airport. The drive takes approximately two hours (excluding rental car drop-off), so an afternoon flight is recommended.
