This 15-day tour showcases Sweden’s highlights, from Stockholm’s historic charm to the northern wilderness. Travel along the Gulf of Bothnia, visit Umeå and Luleå, experience Sámi culture, and stay in a treehouse. In Abisko, there’s a chance to see the Northern Lights, with opportunities for hiking and wildlife encounters along the way. The tour ends in Dalarna before returning to Stockholm for departure.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Stockholm
The tour begins in Sweden’s capital, a city rich in history, charm, and waterfront beauty. Time can be spent exploring the old town’s winding alleyways, museums, and castles.
Day 2: Stockholm
A full day at leisure. If the weather allows, a boat trip to the archipelago is recommended, with nearby islands like Fjäderholmarna easily accessible.
Day 3: Stockholm - Sundsvall
The journey north begins along the Gulf of Bothnia coastline, arriving in Sundsvall in the afternoon. A mix of city and nature, this town offers both shopping and hiking opportunities.
Day 4: Sundsvall – Örnsköldsvik
The route continues along the UNESCO-listed High Coast, known for its dramatic landscapes. The day ends in Örnsköldsvik, a peaceful town and home to the outdoor brand Fjällräven.
Day 5: Örnsköldsvik – Umeå
Travel north to Umeå, Northern Sweden’s cultural capital. A variety of museums offer insight into the region’s rich heritage.
Day 6: Umeå – Luleå
Arrival in Luleå, home to Gammelstad, a UNESCO-listed church town with deep ties to Sámi culture. A visit here provides insight into this fascinating part of Swedish history.
Day 7: Luleå – Treehotel
Who hasn’t dreamt of sleeping in a treehouse as a child? Today is your chance to visit one of Sweden’s most unique hotels, the Treehotel. Clients can can go on a guided tour and discover this interesting property.
Day 8: Treehotel – Abisko
Travel further north to Abisko, one of the best places to experience Sweden’s Arctic wilderness. The remote location offers excellent conditions for Northern Lights viewing.
Day 9: Treehotel – Abisko
A full day at leisure to explore Abisko’s surrounding nature, with hiking trails and opportunities to spot reindeer.
Day 10: Abisko – Kiruna – ICEHOTEL
The journey turns south toward Kiruna, a mining town with a rich industrial heritage. A stop at the world-famous ICEHOTEL provides a chance to admire intricate ice art and enjoy a drink at the ice bar.
Day 11: Kiruna – Jokkmokk
A visit to Jokkmokk, renowned for its annual Sámi market, offers further immersion into Sámi culture. In autumn, there is still a chance to see the Northern Lights.
Day 12: Jokkmokk
Clients will pass the tracks of the famous Inlandsbana – the local train network. If they have time to spare be sure to jump on board and enjoy beautiful scenery.
Day 13: Östersund
Arrival in Östersund, with the option to visit the Moose Garden, where Swedish moose can be observed and fed.
Day 14: Östersund - Falun
The final stop before returning to Stockholm is Falun, in the heart of Dalarna. A visit to Nusnäs provides the opportunity to see the traditional Dala horse manufactory.
Day 15: Departure
The journey concludes with a return to Stockholm. The afternoon is free before departure according to individual travel plans.
