Experience an Arctic winter adventure with clear blue skies, pristine snow, sled dogs, and the northern lights. Start in Nuuk, Greenland’s modern capital, where culture, history, and nature await. Continue to Sisimiut, just inside the Polar Circle, where dog sledding, skiing, hiking, and boat trips offer endless winter exploration. End the day relaxing in the hotel’s hot tubs, watching the northern lights dance across the sky.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nuuk
Flight with Air Greenland from Copenhagen to Nuuk, marking the start of an eight-day winter adventure. Despite its small population of 19,500, Nuuk offers a vibrant city atmosphere as Greenland’s political and cultural centre. After check-in, a welcome meeting with the guide provides insights into the city and planned activities. The afternoon features a fjord adventure, sailing through the vast Nuuk Fjord, the second-largest fjord system in the world. Along the way, admire towering mountains, drifting icebergs, and local wildlife.

Day 2: Nuuk
Breakfast at the hotel. A morning city tour includes a visit to the Greenland National Museum and Nuuk’s key sights, offering insight into the town’s history and culture. The afternoon is at leisure before an evening excursion to experience the Northern Lights from a mountain peak. Equipped with snowshoes and headlamps, hike to the top of Quassussuaq (430 m), where the view is unobstructed by city lights, making the aurora even more spectacular.

Day 3: Sisimiut
Morning flight to Sisimiut, just north of the Arctic Circle. Upon arrival, a hotel transfer and check-in are followed by an information meeting with a local guide. The afternoon features a cultural-historical bus tour, introducing life in this northern town. The day concludes with a visit to a husky farm, where insights into Greenland’s sled dog tradition are shared, along with the opportunity to interact with the dogs.

Day 4: Sisimiut
A morning snowshoe hike leads to Lake Nilliasup and the surrounding moraine landscape, shaped by ancient glaciers. Keep an eye out for polar foxes and snow hares along the way. In the afternoon, a winter excursion into the mountains takes place by snowmobile-pulled sled, with several scenic stops to take in the Arctic landscape.

Day 5: Sisimiut
A highlight of the journey—dog sledding. For centuries, sled dogs have been essential to life in Greenland, and this experience offers a glimpse into the deep bond between mushers and their teams. As the sled glides over the frozen landscape, the only sounds are the dogs’ rhythmic movements and the driver’s occasional commands.

Day 6: Sisimiut
A snowmobile tour takes adventurers deep into the Arctic landscape, traversing scenic trails with inclines, descents, and vast open stretches. The journey includes a stop at Qerrortusup Majoriaa, offering breathtaking views of Davis Strait and the surrounding winter wilderness. A break for snacks and hot drinks allows time to take in the spectacular scenery.

Day 7: Sisimiut
A final full day at leisure. Options include an additional snowmobile excursion (not included) or relaxation at the hotel’s Arctic Spa. In the evening, a farewell dinner is served at the hotel, featuring a Greenlandic buffet (drinks not included).

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, the journey home begins via Nuuk, with an afternoon arrival in Copenhagen, marking the end of an unforgettable Greenlandic winter adventure.
